As you can well imagine, our house is full of different sounds. At any given moments, you may hear giggles, arguing, belly laughs, screaming, talking, music blaring, the TV sounds, and new this week...the wonderful sounds of a whoopee cushion! Just what this household needed! A nine year old boy and 4 six year old girls together is a combination that is primed for bathroom talk. At least once a day, if not 100 times a day, I say, "ENOUGH potty words!" "My ears can't take any more!" Of course, a certain Dad of this bunch finds it just as hilarious. Anyhow, the whoopee cushion has been a big hit. I have to admit that when they got Poppy with it at the dinner table, even Grammy and Mommy couldn't resist joining in on the laughs. Don't you wish you could be a fly on the wall?
There was a moment today though that the kitchen was suddenly quiet in our house. Abby was on the computer, Sidney and Jamahl were watching something on TV downstairs, and McKenzy was playing in her room. Keyan was sort of wandering around so I stopped her in the middle of the kitchen and asked for a hug. Our quiet conversation went like this.
Me: "I love you Keyan!"
Keyan: "I love you more mommy!"
Me: "Nope, because I love you the mostest!"
Keyan: "Nah, I love you the mostest!"
Me: "Keyan, when you get all grown up, are you going to have babies?"
Keyan: "Hmmmm, I don't know?"
Me: "Well, if you do, how many babies will you have?"
Keyan: "Uhm, well, I hope not ten! I couldn't handle ten babies noises. If I get 10 babies, I will have to give four of them to other people."
By this time, I had sat down on the floor and was holding her on my lap. She looked at me and said, "I don't know about all those babies but can I go find the guys now?"
I love those quiet moments that you get as a mom! Of course, Keyan just came to me and whispered that she put that "orange blow up thing" under Daddy's pillow. She is SO proud of herself! I guess I better go tell Paul it is time for bed before she falls asleep and misses the noise!
Sometime, the noises in this house could drive me to drink but boy would it be lonely without all the commotion!
